In industrial and logistic environments, the floor forms the basis of every working day. The concrete subfloor in warehouses often has to deal with intensive loads from forklifts, pallet trucks, racks, machines and foot traffic. A bare concrete floor is porous, rough, sensitive to dust and vulnerable to mechanical and chemical loads. This leads to wear, dust development, an unsafe working environment and an unfinished appearance.
To tackle these challenges and at the same time visually upgrade the floor, a treatment with 2C Colour Coat was chosen: a high-quality, wear-resistant floor coating with a colour choice based on the RAL colour system.
Purpose of the treatment
The main objectives of this project are:
- Functional protection of the floor against wear, moisture, dirt and intensive use
- Aesthetic restoration and colour application for a neat and representative working environment
- Improve safety and hygiene by reducing dust formation and facilitating cleaning
- Sustainable and efficient application without multi-layer construction or long-term downtime of business processes
By choosing the right RAL colour, the floor can not only improve visually, but also contribute to the logistical layout of the space. Think of marking walkways, work zones or storage areas.
Approach: from preparation to final finish
The application of a high-quality floor coating starts with careful preparation. The bare concrete floor is first:
- Mechanically sanded to remove old contamination and cement veil
- Thoroughly cleaned and dust-free for optimum adhesion
- Inspected for moisture content, to prevent problems such as blistering or delamination
2C Colour Coat was then applied in the desired RAL colour. Thanks to the high coverage and self-levelling nature of the coating, one coat is sufficient to obtain an even and durable finish.

Properties of 2C Colour Coat
- Two-component system: Consists of a resin and hardener that together provide an extremely strong and wear-resistant top layer
- Thin layer (approx. 20–30 microns): Retains the structure of the substrate, without building up too much
- Fast drying and hardening: The space can be loaded again after a short time
- Resistant to oil, grease, cleaning agents and mild chemicals
- UV and colourfast, even in direct sunlight or open spaces
- Available in almost all RAL colours, including signal colours for safety markings
Short and long-term benefits
- Aesthetic and professional result – a neat, coloured floor improves the appearance of the entire warehouse
- Dust-free working – a coated floor prevents dust formation from concrete, which contributes to a cleaner working environment
- Better hygiene – smooth surfaces are easier to clean and disinfect
- Safer working – the use of colour can make walking routes, zones or obstacle areas more clearly visible
- Fast processing, minimal downtime – single-coat system with short drying time makes the approach suitable for working environments
- Sustainable alternative – existing floor is reinforced and protected rather than replaced or completely rebuilt
Real-world applications
Although this project focused on a warehouse floor, the application of 2C Colour Coat has wider applications, such as:
- Distribution centres
- Workshops and factory floors
- Technical and installation rooms
- Car parks
- Retail and showrooms with industrial style
- Production areas with HACCP requirements (in modified form)
- The coating offers the flexibility to deliver customisation per space, both technically and visually.
Result: a sustainable, safe and representative work floor
After completion of the work, the warehouse will have a floor that:
- Is wear-resistant for intensive use
- Visually sleek and professional
- Is easy to maintain
- Is resistant to chemicals, moisture and dirt
- Is easy to re-treat in case of local damage
The choice of 2C Colour Coat proves that a relatively simple intervention can make a big difference in the appearance, safety and sustainability of industrial spaces.
