The building at Le Pooleweg 6–11 was struggling with a common problem in urban and industrial environments: the weathering and discolouration of the aluminum window frames due to long-term exposure to atmospheric pollution. Factors such as exhaust fumes, particulate matter, acid rain, UV radiation and fluctuations in temperature and humidity all contribute to the deterioration of the top layer of powder-coated surfaces. As a result, window frames lose their original color and gloss, discolouration and dull spots occur and the surface becomes more susceptible to dirt adhesion and further deterioration.
Without timely treatment, these influences can lead to structural damage, deterioration of the protective coating and increased maintenance requirements. At the same time, a deteriorated facade appearance has a negative impact on the appearance and professional impression of the building.
Project objective
The main objective of this project was to renovate, protect and visually restore the existing window frames of the building, without incurring high costs, long lead times or completely replacing the window profiles. In addition, the solution had to meet modern sustainability requirements and contribute to a lower environmental impact in the long term.
The solution: 2C Perma Coat Mat
To achieve this, a treatment with 2C Perma Coat Mat was chosen, an innovative, two-component coating that has been specially developed for use on weathered powder coatings. The coating can be applied directly to the existing surface, without first having to completely remove the original layer. This makes the process faster, more efficient and less invasive than traditional renovation methods.

Features and benefits of 2C Perma Coat Mat
- Visual restoration of weathered surfaces: The matt finish evens out colour differences and restores the original appearance of the frames.
- Micron-thin protective layer (15–20 microns): Does not wear, does not affect detailing and maintains the aesthetics of the original profile.
- Water and dirt repellent (hydrophobic properties): Reduces the adhesion of dust, soot and rain streaks, resulting in a long-lasting clean and well-maintained facade appearance.
- UV stability: Protects the surface against further discolouration and degradation by sunlight.
- Wear-resistant protection: The coating forms an additional layer of defence against mechanical stress such as wind, sand or light contact.
- Sustainable investment: Significantly extends the life of existing frames, without the use of new materials or major dismantling.
Project execution
The execution of the project began with a thorough cleaning of the window frames, in which all loose dirt, affected areas and superficial corrosion were carefully removed. The surface was then degreased, lightly roughened and technically checked for adhesion. After the preparations, the 2C Perma Coat Mat was applied in a controlled process, ensuring even coverage and a sleek end result.
Thanks to the relatively short drying time and easy processing, the treatment could be carried out without major disruption to the building function.
Long-term result and added value
The treated window frames look like new again, with an even, matt finish that gives the building a neat, contemporary look. In addition, thanks to the coating, the facade is now more resistant to weather influences and pollution, which ensures less frequent and less intensive cleaning. This leads to lower maintenance costs over the entire lifespan of the building.
Furthermore, this approach fits perfectly with contemporary requirements for sustainable real estate management: existing materials are retained and strengthened instead of replaced, so that cost savings, material reduction and lower environmental impact go hand in hand with an improved appearance.
