In warehouses, floors are exposed to intensive use on a daily basis. Think of moving pallets, forklift traffic, transport carts and regular cleaning. A bare concrete floor, although functional, is in many cases vulnerable to wear and tear, dust formation and difficult to maintain. In addition, the grey, unfinished appearance often does not contribute to a neat, professional working environment.
In order to improve the floor functionally and visually, a treatment with 2C Colour Coat, applied in RAL 7021 (black-grey) was chosen for this project. This high-quality coating not only adds colour to the surface in a single layer, but also forms a wear-resistant, dirt-repellent protective layer that is resistant to the daily stress of a warehouse environment.
Purpose of the treatment
The treatment had several specific objectives:
To transform the colourless, rough appearance of the floor into a sleek whole
- Protect the surface against dirt, moisture and mechanical wear
- Make the floor easier to clean and maintain
- Create a more representative appearance for staff and visitors
- Save costs and time with an efficient single-layer application
Technique and choice of materials
The floor was first mechanically cleaned, sanded and degreased to optimise the adhesion of the coating. Then 2C Colour Coat in RAL 7021 was applied. This is a two-component coating based on wear-resistant resins that was specially developed for surfaces such as concrete, cement screeds or porous floors in utility spaces.
