Trailers are indispensable links in logistics, construction and distribution. They are used intensively every day and must continue to function reliably under all circumstances. However, the trailers are also constantly exposed to factors that accelerate wear: UV radiation, stone chips, brine, mud, oil, moisture and temperature fluctuations. These influences ensure that both plastic and metal parts of the trailer lose their colour, shine and protective properties over time.

The concrete elements around Van der Valk Hotel Nootdorp are part of the visual identity of the building. They give the building its characteristic appearance and literally form the basis of the architecture. However, due to their location, close to the ground and often in the shade, these parts are particularly susceptible to the growth of algae, lichens and atmospheric pollution. Particularly in the autumn and winter months, when moisture remains on the surface for a long time, a green, uneven deposit is created that negatively affects the appearance of the hotel and makes cleaning maintenance more difficult.

Since the 1990s, many Dutch school communities have replaced their outdated wooden window frames with powder-coated aluminium. This transition was made at the time due to the need for a long lifespan, less maintenance and a modern look. Aluminium window frames proved to be strong, durable and resistant to weather influences. The visibility and appearance of this object are essential: it must be visually powerful, match the house style of Clear Channel and look representative of the companies and brands that advertise here.

The facade of a building is the first thing that visitors, customers and users see – and is therefore the calling card of a building. In the case of the building on the Zinkwerf, this appearance had been severely affected over the years. Red plastic facade panels had visibly faded due to UV radiation and pollution, and the black window frames looked dull and worn. The facade left a tired impression, while the building was still in excellent technical condition.

A well-maintained façade is essential for the appearance of a healthcare institution. In the case of the health centre in Velserbroek, the façade had lost its original fresh appearance. The frames and panels, exposed to sunlight, wind and precipitation for years, were visibly faded, discoloured and aged, which detracted from the professional image of the building.

Running through the picturesque English countryside is one of Britain’s most iconic heritage railways: the Kent and East Sussex Railway. This historic railway is renowned for its lovingly restored collection of trains, including a series of original 1900s wooden Pullman carriages. Once the epitome of luxury rail travel, these classic carriages are now an essential part of the railway’s tourist offering, attracting thousands of visitors each year who want to relive the atmosphere of the early 20th century.

Boats and yachts are intensively exposed to changing weather conditions and water quality during the sailing season. Think of UV radiation, rain, splashing water, limescale, dirt, bird droppings and fuel residues. These influences cause dull spots, dirt accumulation and rain tracks that affect the appearance of the ship and make maintenance more intensive.

In residential complexes with communal staircases, safety is of great importance, especially in an environment with a broad mix of residents. In the residential complex on [street name if known] in Klazienaveen, the bare concrete steps posed an increasing risk. Due to wear, slipperiness in wet weather and lack of profile, dangerous situations could arise, especially for the elderly, children and people with limited mobility.

Oak has traditionally been a popular material in construction because of its strength, durability and characterful appearance. In many monumental buildings, historic farms or industrial lofts, oak beams or exposed beams are the defining features. But even this robust type of wood is not immune to the effects of time. Due to decades of exposure to moisture, temperature differences, dust, grease, smoke or aged finishes such as lacquer, the natural appearance of the wood can fade or become clogged.
